Philippines

After sleeping in the airport:

(SUPER uncomfortable)

We met up with the gang (Kay and 3 other JETs from Southern Japan) at the airport and headed to our first stop, Puerto Princessa.

Once on the island, we found we were basically the only non- Philippino people around. The island was pretty deserted.
We immediately found some boats to take us island hopping....

We stayed in a cute villa with about 15 rooms and a gorgeous courtyard that they would bring you fresh mango shakes in.
There were geckos all over the walls. Harmless, but kinda weird to have so many all over.
Mom... you would not have liked them.

Went out for some pool that evening:

And the next day we made our trek to the longest navigable underground river in the world. SO COOL.

The guides only let in a certain number of people per day. There are votes being taken of different natural wonders of the world. Supposedly there is going to be a new 7 wonders and the Underground river is at the top of the list. We asked if they were excited about getting more tourism to the island, but they said they will continue to only let in a set number of people per day, to keep the environmental impact low. Sweet!

Nick took this picture with huge monitor Lizards. Shortly after he was ATTACKED BY A GIANT MONKEY. scary.

Afterwards we had a beachside lunch. So relaxing.

A philippino wheelchair went by as we sat there....

The next day was Christmas. Started the day out taking Kay Bear to the hospital. (Just a cold)
Then we hit up the markets on these "Fancy" motorcycles...

The next day we did some more island hopping, Nick bought a ukelele. Ate the freshest crab I have ever had. Took a nap.

Then we made the shady trek to Boracay.... a teeny plane and then onto a rickety boat (with holes). None of us was very pleased....

More to come....
