Bennett

Before my departure for winter vacation, I was blessed with a visit from Bennett, one of my Knoxville loves....

He journeyed to see me after traveling Japan with Kay for a couple days (I got to see Kay days later but the three of us were unable to reunion at the same time!) but was totally down for some Northern Japan traditional way of life.

We started out this section of his trip by forgetting his luggage in Koriyama (where we had the infamous jinte katzu). Stellar.

After a long journey back to Koriyama and back, he met up with me at Kamisanmiya.... my favourite country school.

The catch?

he was dressed as Santa.

Santa-Bennett proceeded to burst in on the entire school at lunch with candy canes. They were utterly stunned. The first grader next to me looks up and whispers "Hontoni Santa????" (Is that really Santa???!)

That evening we went to Tamagawas to meet some KK people and Bennett got to try Natto (fermented soy beans)

The next day we explored KK and Aizu... went to see the giant Buddha and temple there....had giant bowls of ramen... got some laquerware.... saw Wakamatsu castle... went to Topei sushi (where he found the chewiest piece of fish in the world) made cool japanese stickers etc...

long story short... it was a really really really awesome time having him around. Wish I could have spent more time with him.

I did, however... leave him at my apartment for a couple days. He diligently prepared it for my long journey away.

So when are you other Knoxvillians coming in?

Oh... and Nick shaved off his beard (Thank God)
In true Dunn fashion... he had some fun on the road:
